ean_world_congress-Montreal_2013_logoFor nearly two years, the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) has been partnering with our long-time collaborator, the European Access Network (EAN), to plan a series of World Congresses on Access to Higher Education. The first of this three-part series is being held in Montreal, October 7-10, 2013. From the first days of the planning process, all of the World Congress partners have been committed to ensuring that the first World Congress was not simply another conference, but rather an opportunity to “Connect the Unconnected,” bringing together networks of individuals and organizations worldwide to advance our global and local efforts to provide greater opportunity within tertiary education. The World Congress is a social movement and a global learning community. We are on a journey to create a new global movement that will progressively build and enact an agenda for change creating real and substantial increases in successful participation in post-secondary education locally, regionally and globally by 2020. We are especially concerned with those people who currently have few or no opportunities to participate, who experience disadvantage that affects their successful participation and population groups who are currently under-represented in post-secondary education systems.
